Every private training is built around your group — your size, your goals, your schedule, and your island. Whether you're bringing the family for an unforgettable adventure, organizing a corporate team-building day, running a school program, or planning a multi-day experience for a large group, Kap Te'o Tafiti and his team design the session around you.

Private trainings are available on Oahu at Gunstock Ranch and can be arranged on other Hawaiian islands for groups. No public session schedules to fit around — you pick the date, we build the experience.

Who Books Private Trainings

Families & Small Groups

2–12 people. A private family session means the training is fully focused on your group — no waiting for others, no shared schedule. Great for family reunions, birthday adventures, or visiting relatives who want a real Hawaii experience. All ages welcome.

Corporate & Team Building

10–50 people. Hawaii Survival School's team-building programs put groups through real challenges together — friction fire, shelter building, wild food preparation — in a way that builds genuine trust and communication. A corporate retreat your team will actually talk about. Customizable for any company size.

School & Youth Groups

10–50 students. Kap and his team have worked with schools and youth programs across Hawaii to deliver curriculum-aligned outdoor education. Sessions can focus on Hawaiian culture, environmental science, leadership, or practical survival skills — built around your group's age range and learning goals.

Multi-Day & Custom Experiences

Any size. For groups who want to go deeper — overnight wilderness immersions, multi-day skill progressions, or fully custom programs combining survival training with WFA certification — we build the experience from scratch. Call Kap directly to talk through what's possible.

What Your Group Will Learn

Friction Fire

Starting fire without modern tools using Hawaiian techniques — every group member gets hands-on time with the board and spindle.

Shelter Building

Constructing a functional primitive shelter from jungle materials. Groups work together — this is one of the best team activities in the program.

Wild Food & Water

Identifying and preparing wild edibles, traditional island foods, and understanding water sourcing and purification in a Hawaiian environment.

Island Tools & Bushcraft

Crafting improvised tools — rope, containers, cutting implements — from what the jungle gives you, the same way Kānaka Maoli have for thousands of years.

Kap Te'o Tafiti — Hawaii Survival School

Led by Kap Te'o Tafiti

Kap and his team have trained cast and crew for Survivor, Naked & Afraid, Alone, and Dual Survival, and worked alongside Dwayne Johnson on Fast & Furious right here in Hawaii. Private groups get that same expertise — brought to your session, scaled to your group's experience level and goals.

No two private sessions are identical. Kap designs each program around the group in front of him.

Private Training FAQ

What's the minimum group size?

Private sessions are available for groups as small as 2. There's no minimum — if you want a fully private experience, we can make it happen.

Can you come to us on another island?

Yes. For larger groups on Maui, the Big Island, Kauai, Molokaʻi, or Lānaʻi, we can arrange travel. Get in touch and we'll work out logistics and pricing.

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend contacting us at least 2–4 weeks ahead for smaller groups. For large corporate or school groups, 4–8 weeks gives us the most flexibility to design the right program.

Can you combine courses?

Absolutely. Multi-day private programs can combine island survival skills with Wilderness First Aid certification, overnight experiences, or custom skill modules. Tell us what you're after and we'll build it.

What age groups do you cater for?

All ages. Younger children (5+) participate with a parent or guardian. Youth groups are tailored to the age range. Adult programs go as advanced as the group wants.

How is pricing determined?

Pricing is based on group size, program duration, and any travel required. We provide a custom quote after a brief conversation about your group's needs. Call or email to get started.
